Returns Policy

At Glittering Magpie, every piece is handmade with care. We want you to love your jewellery, but if something isn’t right, this policy explains your rights and how returns work.

Your Right to Cancel (Online Orders)

Under the UK Consumer Contracts Regulations, customers purchasing online have the right to cancel most orders within 14 days of receiving them.

We extend this to a 30-day return window for eligible items.

Items must be returned within 14 days of notifying us about the return.

Condition of Returned Items

Returned items must:

  • Be unworn and unused
  • Be in their original condition
  • Include original packaging where possible

We reserve the right to reduce a refund if an item shows signs of wear, damage, or handling beyond what would reasonably be expected when inspecting it.

Non-Returnable Items

The following items cannot be returned unless faulty:

  • Custom-made or personalised jewellery
  • Commission pieces
  • Earrings (for hygiene reasons)

This does not affect your statutory rights if an item is faulty or not as described.

Faulty or Incorrect Items

Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, you are entitled to a repair, replacement, or refund if your item is faulty, damaged, or not as described.

If you believe your item is faulty, please contact us as soon as possible with:

  • Your order number
  • A description of the issue
  • Clear photographs where possible

If the item is confirmed to be faulty, we will cover reasonable return postage costs.

Return Postage

Customers are responsible for return postage costs for non-faulty items.

We recommend using a tracked postal service, as we cannot be responsible for returns lost in transit.

Refunds

Refunds will be processed to the original payment method once the returned item has been received and inspected.

Please allow up to 14 days for your refund to be processed.

Original postage costs are refundable where required by law. Return postage costs are only refunded for faulty or incorrect items.

Market Purchases

Items purchased in person at markets or events are not covered by the Consumer Contracts Regulations and cannot be returned for change of mind.

However, your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 still apply to faulty or misdescribed items.

Jewellery Care

Our jewellery is handmade using sterling silver and fine silver. To keep your jewellery looking its best:

  • Avoid contact with water, perfume, lotions, and cleaning products
  • Remove jewellery before swimming, showering, or exercising
  • Store pieces in a dry place when not worn

Silver naturally tarnishes over time and this is not considered a fault.
